The General Manager and Management Team
A Council must appoint a person to be its General Manager who is responsible for the efficient and effective operation of the organisation and for ensuring the timely implementation of decisions of the Council.
The work of the General Manager is undertaken in a team environment, and in liaison and consultation with, in particular, the other members of the management team.
Management Team
Council’s day to day operations are managed by the General Manager and Management Team, capably supported by a dedicated team of key administrative and works personnel.
Following a recent re-determination of its organisation structure, the composition of Council’s Management Team is as follows:-
General Manager: Mr. John S. Hunt
Group Managers –
Engineering Services: Mr. Leigh W. Ashford
Financial Services: Mr. Ronald D. Bonat
Environmental Services: Mr. Brent S. Livermore (Contract)
Council Meeting Dates
Council meetings are held on the Second Tuesday of each month commencing at 11.00 a.m and are held at the Council Chambers in Urana. Council Meetings are not held during January each year.
Listed below are the dates of coming meetings.

Residents of Urana Shire are invited to attend the Council meetings. Council allows up to 15-20 minutes prior to normal monthly Council meetings for residents to ask questions on issues of concern. Residents who wish to raise any issues in this way are required to make written application to the General Manager at least 7 days prior to the monthly meeting date, detailing any issues to be raised. This notification will allow Councillors and staff the opportunity to respond with informed and accurate information to the matters raised.
Any other specific purpose committee meetings that comprise Councillors, senior and specialist staff meet on an as needs basis. Business papers and Minutes of Council meetings are available to the public from the Shire office and are also regularly posted on the Urana Shire website. |
